Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and participated as panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She was a member of a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including arm control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
